Eat Well in schools Workshops

At EWiS we pride ourselves on the open relationship we have with our local communities within the schools. We run a number of parent workshops which concentrate on a number of key subjects ranging from healthy eating, portion control, food labelling and cooking techniques to name a threw. The aim of these and all our workshops (Parent & Children) is to give people the knowledge and understanding to be able to make the right choices for themselves. There is always great discussion afterwards and it has proved to be a great networking tool whilst increasing the schools profile with the parents.

One thing we are really keen on is that our workshops allow us to talk to the parents about the school meals and the hard work that is put in to ensure we are offering really great nutritious food. We openly discuss our supply chain and cooking technics and due to several requests some or our recipes that we use in our everyday cooking are on here.

We have included a selection of recipes here on our website that use our home made base sauce which is used in many of our dishes. The base sauce is a tomato and vegetable sauce which uses 100% fresh produce. The best thing about this sauce is that it can be made using almost any vegetables so we encourage the use of vegetables that are in season at the time. Unlike shop bought sauces this contains no additives, colouring, flavour enhancers or emulsifiers and stabilisers. All of the recipes use this base sauce so you can be sure your household are getting some vegetables in their diet.
